9 Natural Remedies for Canker Sores

1. Canker Sores Remedy with Cranberry & Basil

Basil tea is perhaps the best way for treating canker sores naturally and it’s so easy to make and effective. Together with blueberry decoction it’s even more powerful, so here is how to make them.

    • Add 2 tbsp. of basil flowers and leaves into 100 ml of hot water.

Use this infusion to gargle 3-4 times per day.

Prepare a simple cranberry infusion by boiling 10 dried cranberries for 5 minutes in 300 ml of water. Use the infusion for gargles, 3-4 times per day. Continue the treatment until the canker sores have gone completely. Alternatively, apply black tea bags on the sores.

While treating your canker sores with the basil or cranberry infusions, avoid the consumption of alcohol, pickles and spices. Beware of expired toothpaste as well! Go for more natural alternatives in this regard.

2. Bee Hive Produce for Canker Sores

  • Mix together honey with 15% rose syrup or jam + 15% soft propolis extract or propolis tincture 30 %.
  • Adjust the quantities so you get a 100 gr composition.
  • Mix everything well before each use.

Preparation

  1. Take 4-5 tsp. halves at 2-3 minutes intervals while keeping the concoction in your mouth, on the affected area.
  2. Those with throat canker sores should slowly swallow it.
  3. It’s important that you keep it on the sores as much as possible.
  4. Repeat the treatment 3-5 times per day, depending on the gravity of the situation.
  5. After each treatment don’t eat or drink anything for the following hour.

Regularly, you’ll notice the effect of the treatment in the first day of usage, but you must follow it still, until complete healing, until there’s no more concoction left. It is very important that you use only fresh, organic and high-quality bee hive products, otherwise, the results of the remedy are debatable. The rose syrup or jam should be also made with all natural ingredients as well.

3. Canker Sores Remedy with Baking Soda

When you feel some canker sores emerging take a pinch of bicarbonate in your mouth, moist it with saliva and hold it in for ½  or 1 hour, as much as you possibly can. Spit it out and repeat as many times as necessary.

4. Zinc Chloride (ZnCl2) Remedy

Procure some zinc chloride for dentistry purpose because it has a specific concentration.

  • Introduce a cotton swab in the substance only once.
  • Pad the sores with it until you count to three.

It’s important to pad only the canker sore area and not go further as well as padding until you count to three.

It will sting a bit, but it’s bearable.

Make sure you use a cotton swab only once, and use a new one every time, because otherwise you will contaminate the solution. Perform this remedy once a day, before bedtime. If you can’t find zinc chloride anywhere in pharmacies, go to a dentist and ask them for a little bit, because it is used for dental materials.
