The eucalyptus, tea tree, lavender, chamomile and bergamot essential oils have antiviral, analgesic properties and also help drying the pustules. Bergamot is mostly active against the herpes zoster virus while tea tree oils helps strengthening the immune system, stimulating the body to recover after the infection.

The blackthorn blossoms extract is highly indicated in immune deficit, post-flu convalescents and ophthalmic herpes zoster. Drink a concoction made by adding 50 drops in 100 ml water, three times per day, before meal time. At the same time, apply the Echinacea gel, highly recommended in topical treatment of herpetic lesions.

4. Apitherapy

If you wish to treat shingles by using bee hive produce, go for the propolis spray or ointment with 20% propolis content. Spray the propolis based solution on the affected areas at least 2-3 times per day.

Diet Recommendations for Shingles

Perhaps the most important part of healing any condition is nutrition. Why? Well, what you put in is exactly what you get back, that’s why.

So, in the case of shingles, Vitamin B, bioflavonoids and Vitamin C are the key answers. Load yourselves with:

  • As many citrus fruits as you can, including their peel and pulp. Cherries, tomatoes, mango, eggs, chicken meat, liver, peanuts, seeds and whole cereals, olives, sun flower seeds and oils need to be included in your diet plan.
  • The probiotic bacteria contained in fermented yogurts are a great source of Vitamin B.
  • The lipids from various fish varieties (sardines, salmon, herring, mackerel) are ideal for skin regeneration, especially when shingles is in the dry vesicles phase.
  • Cat’s claw herb is also very recommended in case of shingles. You can use the tincture or drink cat’s claw tea regularly.
  • In addition to the diet recommendations, make a simple and effective poultice. Mix apple vinegar with honey and apply on the skin lesions affected by shingles.

A healthy diet plan and nutritional supplements can prevent the outburst of shingles, not just helping heal it. Remember, it is better to prevent than to cure! Stay healthy, naturally!
