We will present to you a couple of home remedies for irritated eyes with eyebright. Let’s begin with the external use of this wonderful plant.

You may use both dried or fresh eyebright leaves, as you wish, as well as eyebright powder obtained from the dried plant. 

  • Make an infusion using a teaspoon of this plant in ½ cup of hot water. 
  • Let the infusion cool down and then wash the eyes 2-3 times per day.
  • You may also prepare eye compresses soaked in eyebright (leave on for at least 10 minutes).

Repeat the procedure as many times as it takes. The eyes will clean thoroughly, while the eyesight will better. This is definitely one of the best home remedies for irritated eyes.

2. Kneipp’s Eyebright Powder for Irritated Eyes

If you wish to know how to use eyebright powder this is another herbal cure Kneipp used to use on his sick patients.

  • Have one pinch of eyebright powder a day with soup or water.

3. Dill Seeds Remedies for Irritated Eyes

Boil 30 gr of dill seeds in 1 L of water for 5 minutes. Take the pot off the fire and let it cool down a bit. Then start inhaling the steams with your eyes open and head covered with a towel.

4. Cornflowers for Eye Irritation

Apply daily warm cornflower tea compresses on the closed eyes for 2 weeks. Afterward, apply a thin layer of castor oil on the eyes and lids using your finger.

5. Yellow Sweet Clover

Boil two tsp. of yellow sweet clover (Melilotus officinalis) in 200 ml of water. Slip and use the warm infusion for eyewashes using a pipette. Then apply compresses with this tea.

6. Chamomile Remedy for Eye Irritation

Pour ¼ L of boiling milk over 1 full tbsp. of chamomile tea. Let it infuse and then slip the tea. Use chamomile milk to apply to the irritated eyes. Repeat until the irritation is gone.

7. Swedish Bitter for Irritated Eyes

Moisten the exterior corner of your eyes with Swedish bitter using your pinky finger. Repeat this until the irritation is gone.
