Coincidentally or not, one of the most powerful antiparasitic herbs is wormwood (the name has a clue in it), which has also been used in parts of Asia as an anti-malarial drug. Without further ado, let’s get to the most powerful herbs that kill parasites.

6 Powerful Herbs that Kill Parasites & How to Use Them

1. Wormwood

(Artemisia absinthium)

Wormwood is among the best known and also among the most effective herbs that kill parasites in the world. Its active ingredients are toxic to most types of intestinal worms, as well as to Giardia lamblia. Moreover, wormwood is a strong bitter tonic, which promotes bowel movements and thus the elimination of intestinal parasites. It is used in powder form, the daily dose is 3-4 teaspoons, in cures of a maximum of ten days, followed by a ten-day break.

You can also use wormwood in enemas, alongside equal parts of flaxseeds and chamomile flowers. Put a teaspoon of each plant in a cup of water and leave it to soak overnight. Strain the cold maceration and set it aside. Use the remaining plants and scald them in a cup of boiling water, allow them to cool for 15 minutes, and strain. Finally, combine the cold maceration and the tea. Use an anal irrigator or an enema bulb to introduce the tea in the colon, while it is warm. Wormwood is one of the most powerful herbs that kill parasites.

2. Tansy Tincture

(Tanacetum vulgare)

Tansy is a stronger anti-parasitic herb compared to wormwood and, in addition, can be administered for longer periods of time. It is very effective in the treatment of tapeworms, roundworms, pinworms, and giardia infestations. As an adjunct, it is valuable against hydatid cysts and trichinellosis. It is administered as a tincture, and the dose for an adult is one teaspoon four times a day, in 3-week courses, with a one-week break.

3. Artichoke Powder

(Cynara scolymus)

While not an antiparasitic herb per se, artichoke is part of the bitter plants that amplify and support the action of anthelmintic herbs. Adults can have 1 teaspoon of artichoke powder twice a day. This is one of the most powerful herbs that kill parasites.

4. Centaury Powder

(Centaurium erythraea)

The second of the bitter plants that kill parasites is centaury, a herb that stimulates bowel movements, which promotes the detachment of parasites from the walls of the colon on which they are fixed. The recommended dose for an adult is half a teaspoon of centaury powder four times a day.

5. Laxative Herbs

Laxative plants promote the elimination of worm eggs from the body as soon as possible and are usually taken 4 to 7 days after starting the anti-parasitic treatment. The best laxative herbs that kill parasites are elderberry (Sambucus nigra), alder buckthorn (Frangula alnus), and field bindweed (Convolvulus arvensis). You can follow a 10-14 day cure with elderberry tincture, alder buckthorn decoction, or field bindweed powder.

5. Male Fern Sitz Bath

(Dryopteris filix-mas)

Herbal sitz baths have a very strong effect when using toxic plants that are extremely effective in killing intestinal worms, such as wormwood and male fern. Actually, the best sitz bath for parasites is a combination of the two. For the best effects, use these two herbs that kill parasites as follows.

Soak 1 tablespoon of male fern root and 10 tablespoons of wormwood in two liters of water at room temperature for eight to ten hours (overnight). After this time, strain the resulting cold maceration and set it aside. Put the used plants in another two liters of boiling water this time, and leave covered until the decoction has cooled, then strain.

Finally, combine the two teas (cold maceration and warm infusion) and pour them into your bath water in a basin. Make sure the water is at a temperature of 38-39°C/100-102°F. Do the sitz bath for 20-30 minutes, pad your behind dry with a towel rest in a very warm place for half an hour. Follow the procedure daily for a week.

Hello Sue! For best results you can drink a cup of wormwood tea 15-20 minutes before meals, three times a day. So three cups/day in total. Steep one tsp for 15 minutes and drink while warm and sweeten with honey after it has cooled down a bit, it can be quite bitter, but that is normal. Much health to you! 💚
