6 Amazing Bay Leaf Tea Uses and How to Use at Home
1. Diabetes
Bay leaf is one of the medicinal plants used for regulating blood sugar levels, especially in the early stages of diabetes. Bay leaf tea is one of the most effective natural remedies for diabetes, and here is how to prepare and use it. Put 10 bay laurel leaves in 600 ml of boiling water. Cover the cup, wrap it in a thick blanket, and steep for 3 hours. Drink 150-200 ml first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. Split the rest of the tea quantity into three equal parts and drink each 30 minutes before eating. For better results, add 2 tsp of plantago seeds when making the bay leaf tea.
Adjust the dosages according to your daily blood sugar level tests. For example, when the values are around 180-230 mg/dL, drink 200 ml of bay leaf tea in the morning, and when the values decrease to 130-150 mg/dL, reduce the dose to 120-150 ml of tea. You can follow the bay leaf tea cure for a maximum of 3 months, then pause for 4 weeks and resume if necessary.
2. Drunkenness, Intoxication, and Poisoning
Steep 20-30 bay leaves in a cup of water for 20 minutes and drink the entire quantity in one sitting to induce purging. This tea is a powerful emetic and antitoxic medicine.
3. Psoriasis
Finely chop 10 large bay leaves, mix with 3 tablespoons of three-lobe beggarticks (Bidens tripartita) and a teaspoon of celandine, and steep for 2 hours, in 650 ml of boiling water, in a thermos or in a teapot wrapped in a fluffy towel. Drink 75-100 ml at a time (depending on body weight), 3 times a day, with 20 minutes before meals.
4. Hoarseness, Voice Loss, and Gum Infections
Put 10 bay leaves in a cup of boiling water. Let it cool, then gargle and rinse your mouth with the bay leaf tea. The treatment is more effective if it is repeated three times a day.
5. Sweaty Feet
Prepare a bay leaf tea or decoction with 30 bay leaves and 10 oak leaves in a liter of hot water. Pour the hot infusion into your bathtub over your bathwater and take a warm 25-minute bath.
6. Trigeminal Neuralgia, Rheumatic Pains, Colds, and Dermatoses
Scald a few large bay leaves in hot water for 15-20 minutes. Remove them from the hot water, and apply them to the affected areas, placing them one next to another, as a cataplasm. Cover the warm leaves with a piece of wool fabric and bandage for 40-60 minutes. If you suffer from a cold and also have a strong cough, apply the bay leaves to your chest and back.
