Pick the fresh leaves of burdock that have slightly sharp tips and bristles on the back the night before. In the evening, before going to bed, take 1-2 whole leaves, moisten them evenly with rubbing alcohol (the blue kind), and leave them to soak the alcohol for 10-15 minutes. Then place the leaves on a piece of thin cloth or gauze one after the other, and apply the poultice to the nape of your neck (from under your hairline) down on your back.

Cover the leaves with another thin cloth or gauze (you can also wrap cling foil over the gauze), and then tie a thin scarf for fixation. Keep the fresh burdock leaves poultice overnight. Depending on the severity of your symptoms and how long you’ve been suffering from rheumatic pains, repeat the process 4-5-6 evenings in a row. If you experience any skin irritations, use a natural calendula salve on your skin. Use two fresh burdock leaves for each application.

As prevention, do these simple applications every autumn season for 2-3 consecutive nights. Burdock leaves help in any form of rheumatism, with spectacular results, even for very old rheumatic pains and aches. You can also use fresh burdock leaves poultices for injured or tired feet from walking or due to uncomfortable shoes. Apply the leaves in two or three layers, after crushing their ribs with a rolling pin or bottle.
