The comfrey root vinegar recipe we are about to share with you here is very simple to make and is a natural remedy for both seborrheic dermatitis and dandruff. Before we get to the recipe, this is how you can harvest comfrey root yourself and turn it into a powder to later use to make the comfrey root vinegar. Let’s go.

How to Harvest Comfrey Root
Comfrey (Symphytum officinale) grows especially alongside running waters, in wet ditches and meadows, and in swampy areas. You can easily recognize it by its strongly branched stem (up to one meter high) adorned with purple-violet flowers, in bunches of 5-10. Comfrey roots are harvested in the autumn, from mid-October to November, or at the end of winter and the beginning of spring, in the months of February, March, and April. Between January and March, comfrey root produces the maximum amount of allantoin, and it’s the ideal time to harvest them.

How to Make Comfrey Root Powder
Thoroughly wash the comfrey roots and split them lengthwise into thin strips, and arrange them in a thin layer on a table in a shaded area to dry naturally. Drying is finished when they become rigid and make a snap sound when you break them between your fingers. After complete drying, keep them in a paper bag or glass jar before using them. Now finely grind the dried comfrey roots using a coffee grinder (if there are any unground bits left, sieve them out) and store the comfrey root powder in a sealed glass jar.
How to Make Comfrey Root Vinegar for Seborrheic Dermatitis
Soak 2 tablespoons of dried and ground comfrey root in 500 ml (2 cups) of vinegar (preferably wine vinegar) and leave to macerate for 10 days. Strain the comfrey root vinegar and pour it into amber glass bottles. Use this medicinal vinegar to rub your scalp with twice a week, then wash your hair with a gentle shampoo. Comfrey root vinegar is one of the best natural remedies for dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis, and for other scalp issues, that you can easily prepare and use at home.
