How to Make Herbal Salve for Rheumatic Pain
Ingredients
- 50 pcs. calendula flowers (Calendula officinalis)
- 50 pcs. yarrow flowers (Achillea millefolium)
- 50 pcs. chamomile flowers (Matricaria chamomilla)
- 100 g stinging nettle leaves (Urtica dioica)
- 10 g comfrey root (Symphytum officinale)
- 10 g cleavers (Galium aparine)
- 10 g arnica flowers (Arnica montana)
- 20 g cayenne pepper (Capsicum annum)
- 1 kg of pork fat or coconut oil
- 30 g beeswax (optional)
- 20 g fir resin (optional)
How to Make
Finely chop/grind the well-dried herbs above and mix them thoroughly. Boil them in a kilogram of unsalted pork lard, until they start to sizzle. Turn the heat off, allow to cool, cover and set aside. Repeat this exact process (sizzling the herbs) for the next two days. On the fourth day, heat up the infused oil with the herbs until the fat melts, and turn the heat off. Strain the infused oil into (amber) glass jars and label them. Rub the painful areas with this powerful herbal salve as often as possible.
Tips!
You can replace the pork lard with butter, ghee, or coconut oil if you want a vegan version. For a harder texture of the herbal salve, you can add 30 g of beeswax and 20 g of fir resin, but it is not necessary. If you want to use them, melt the wax and resin in a separate bowl on a double boiler and mix before pouring the salve into the recipients.
