This spruce cones salve recipe is an old traditional recipe from The Carpathian Mountains of Roumania. To prepare this natural salve, you need fresh spruce salve and a couple of other natural ingredients. Namely beeswax, and St.John’s wort oil, and is great for a wide variety of skin issues. Spruce Cones Salve Recipe
- 1-2 spruce cones (as fresh and as clean as possible)
- 50 g of clarified butter (ghee) or lard
How to Make
Melt the butter or lard in a pan and add the chopped spruce cones. Remove from the heat and let the cones sit for an hour or two in the hot fat. Pass the salve through a fine sieve and pour it into a small glass jar. Allow the salve to “breathe” and cool down completely for 1-2 hours before sealing the jar. Keep the spruce cones salve in a cold spot. The spruce cones salve is used for treating wounds and blisters.
