Before we get to the most powerful natural remedies for emphysema, here are the most frequent emphysema causes.

Emphysema Causes

Emphysema is caused in many cases by exposure to aggressive environmental factors. Among the most important are sulfur and nitrogen dioxides, generated by power plants and found in exhaust gases, black smoke, excess ozone, and freon (refrigerators, household sprays, perfumes, etc.). In elderly people, emphysema can be caused by several etiological factors accumulated during life, especially in musicians who play wind instruments or glassmakers – professions that use the lungs to the maximum. Smoking also plays a negative role in the development of the condition.

7 Powerful Natural Remedies for Emphysema

1. Birch, Juniper & Dandelion Tea

Steep a spoonful of a herbal blend of birch leaves (2 parts), juniper berries (1 part), and dandelion root (1 part) in 200 ml of boiling hot water. After cooling, strain the tea, and divide it into 3 equal parts (this is the quantity for one day). Drink each portion one hour after eating, for at least 3 months. This tea is one of the most powerful natural remedies for emphysema.

2. Herbal Tea for Emphysema

To improve the blood flow in the lungs, make the following healing tea. Steep 2 teaspoons of rosehips and one teaspoon each of parsley seeds, celandine herb, and bearberry (Uva ursi) in 600 ml of boiling water for 30 minutes. Strain and drink one cup, 2 times a day, before meals for 6 weeks.

3. Plantain & Wild Thyme Infusion

Combine equal amounts of wild thyme and plantain (Plantago lanceolata), and scald 4 heaped teaspoons of the herbal mix in 4 cups of boiling water. Steep for one minute, then strain. Do not sweeten, and drink this healing tea throughout the day in small sips. You can add 5-6 dried calendula flowers to the mix for enhanced efficiency. Keep the entire quantity in a thermos mug so that it stays warm throughout the day, as you should not warm it again. Apply horsetail poultices alongside (instructions below). This is one of the most powerful natural remedies for emphysema, but can also be used for asthma, bronchitis, and silicosis.

4. Agrimony Tea

Agrimony (Agrimonia eupatoria) is one of the best natural remedies for emphysema you can try at home, as it has been used by world-renowned herbalist Maria Treben to heal her patients. Steep 1 teaspoon of plant in a cup of boiling water for 1-2 minutes (until the infusion has a lemony color). Strain the tea and drink warm in small sips, 15-20 minutes apart from one another (do not take consecutive sips, but pause for 15-20 minutes). Do not reheat the tea, as it loses its healing properties, so keep it in a thermos to keep warm.

Drink one cup of agrimony tea three times a day. In addition to being one of the most powerful natural remedies for emphysema, this tea is also healing for an enlarged heart, stomach and bowels, kidney, and urinary bladder problems if used long-term.

5. Honey & Pollen

Combine equal amounts of fresh bee pollen and raw honey, and have a spoonful 3-4 times a day, one hour after meals with 75-100 ml of wild oregano tea. To make the tea, put a tablespoon of dried plant in a cup of water at room temperature, bring to a boil, and simmer on very low heat for 2-3 minutes. Pour the tea (with the plant) into a thermos and continue steeping for 12 hours (overnight). In addition to being one of the best natural remedies for emphysema, this natural remedy also has very positive results in cases of prostate adenoma, anemia, digestive tract conditions, and exhaustion.

6. Horsetail Poultice for Emphysema

Put a handful of horsetail in a sieve above a steaming pot (above the water level). The steam will warm up and moisten the plant. Put the horsetail in cheesecloth and apply on the skin over the lungs (cheesecloth on the skin). Then apply another warm cheesecloth over the horsetail to the keep poultice in place overnight.

7. Clay Baths for Emphysema

Apply warm clay poultices to the chest and abdomen area. If your feet are cold, warm them up with a warm clay feet bath in a small basin. Ideally, use a flat and wide water basin, add the warm water and 3-4 cm of clay to the bottom of the basin. Stand up and step on the clay with repetitive moves, as you are walking in place. The procedure should not last more than ten minutes, even less, if your feet do not warm up after a few steps.

Diet Recommendations for Emphysema

An increased intake of natural vitamin A, which is very abundant in carrots, has a very good effect on the prevention and treatment of emphysema, according to Richard Baybutt, Professor at East Carolina University. As an adjuvant in pulmonary conditions, the recommended dose is 70 grams of raw carrots daily. People who do not tolerate raw foods can switch to the same quantity of boiled/steamed carrots. This carrot cure is also effective as an adjuvant in chronic bronchitis (including smoking), tuberculosis, and pneumonia relapses.
