How to Make Iodine at Home with Kelp
This iodine recipe asks for natural ingredients, namely:
- 1 cup dried laminaria (kelp)
- 600 ml water (20 oz)
- 12 medium-sized onions
- 3 tablespoons coriander seeds
- 1 tablespoon cumin seeds
- 5-6 peppercorns
- 2-3 cloves
- 100 ml cold-pressed olive oil
Add the dried kelp into the boiling water, give it a good mix and cover with a lid so that the algae hydrate. Strain, finely chop the hydrated seaweed, and put them in a bowl aside. Next, finely chop the onions and add them to the seaweed, alongside the powdered spices. Then pour the cold-pressed olive oil and mix using a wooden spoon, so that everything is well combined. Leave the mixture in the fridge for the next 24 hours.
The iodine-rich kelp sauce is ready for consumption. If you prefer a finer texture, you can also give the sauce a good blend to make it into a salad dressing. Use this sauce every day to top your favorite salad. Prepare a salad with finely chopped vegetables and leafy greens, to which you add 4-5 tablespoons of the iodine-rich sauce. Deliciousness and healthiness! 🙂
